EXILE’s library is now LENDING! Here is some info about what the lending process looks like:

Registration:
• To register as a library member you must provide us with a name, a phone number to reach you, and your email address. We will then give you a library card, which you will need to show us when you borrow books.
• There will not be a registration fee for the first two months that the library is lending. If we change our mind about the fee, we will only apply the change to new accounts starting on or after the two-month introductory period.

Borrowing:
• Books will be loaned for 3 weeks.
• Media will be loaned for 1 week (with a $5 deposit).
• A maximum of 2 Books & one Media item are to be lent out to a person at a time.
• Zines & Magazines will not be loaned out.

Returns:
• Returns can be made in person during the shop’s open hours (Wednesday-Saturday 12-8pm, and Sunday 12-5pm). This is the only way to return Media items if you wish to retrieve your deposit.
• Returns made when the Infoshop is closed can be dropped off in the mailbox.

Renewing a loan:
• To renew the loan for an item that you are borrowing, email library(at)exilebooks.org. Renewals are official when the email has been replied to.
• A renewal request can also be made in person, or on the phone.
• We’ll only renew items before they are overdue, and if the item is not on “hold” for someone else.

Overdue items:
• Members with late items cannot take anything else out until the item(s) is/are returned.
• If an item is late more than one month, the member cannot borrow for one month. Two late months is two months’ suspended borrowing, and so on.
• If an item is lost the member has 3 options: to replace the item, to pay $20, or to not borrow for 2 months.
• If a member has lost 3 items within a year, s/he has 2 options: pay $20 and not borrow for 2 months, or not borrow for 6 months.

Holds:
• Members can place a hold on items either in person, by email, or on the phone. When the item arrives, we will call to let you know.
